LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT
This is how dreams start, by first visualizing them in your mind, writing them down in detail and then creating the picture gallery that represent your dreams and goals. Some plans are just wishful day-dreams, fanciful thoughts without real substance, they appear in our minds in a shower of sparkling stars as if touched by a magical wand, and as they appear out of nowhere they’re gone a few days later.
Often, these so-called wishful day-dreams could actually become a reality, if you really wished it, but sadly you seldom believe you can achieve them from the get-go. You think that they are just there to brighten a hard and difficult day, to give you respite from worry and despair. A great pity, because that wishful thought, that “silly” day-dream can be the catalyst that will relieve you of all your troubles if you had only believed.
On the other hand, there are those dreams that are well thought out; they are connected with our talents and are the passion of our lives. These dreams tend to be more realistic, from our point of view, and therefore stay with us, often, throughout our lives. But why are there so few of us that actually realize our passions? Why are there so many of us that have so many regrets of unfulfilled dreams at the end of our time here on earth?
Are we too set in our comfort zones that stretching out and stepping away from our cocoons is too traumatic for our psyche to contemplate? Do we have so little belief in ourselves and in the power of God that we don’t want to try to reach for the stars at all? Is mediocrity preferable to excellence if it will maintain the status quo? Is it better to deprive ourselves of our dreams so that life’s waves will not rock and maybe sink the little rafts we’re on? Perhaps! Fear can also be a deterrent from living our lives to the fullest…
I believe that humans are and have always been conditioned to live within a specified norm imposed by the societies we live in. People today are addicted to instant gratification; most people live from paycheck to paycheck and beyond their means. What they see, they want, and what they want, they buy without thought of whether they can afford it or not. Most people today don’t believe in waiting to satisfy their physical comforts or go without for a while so that eventually they can have it all and in abundance when they realize their dreams. People don’t realize that if the going is easy on the way to realize their dreams, they won’t appreciate the end results. It is those who work hard, stay focused and struggle along the way to success that eventually truly enjoy the fruits of their hard work and can truly celebrate their achievements.
But God wants us to share the abundance we have with those that have nothing. Throughout the Bible the Lord tells us to care for orphans, widows and the poor. When the Lord gave Moses the laws of harvesting, He often mentioned that the Israelites must not harvest their fields from the one end to the other, that they had to leave some of the grain unharvested and if some of the grain fall on the ground to leave it. This was the share of the poor, of passing foreigners, and of the wild animals.
Through giving abundantly to others that are in need, through sharing your wealth you can show the Lord how much you are grateful for the blessings you have received. The more you open your heart to others the more the Universe will give you what you want. Therefore, life is what you make it.
